Hackney Bridge

The Hackney Bridge Community

At Hackney Bridge, we’re proud to champion local charities, grassroots projects, and community-led initiatives. From team away days to events, we’re here to support and celebrate what’s happening on our doorstep. Got an idea or want to host your own event?

A Community Hub

Hackney Bridge is home to a thriving network of local organisations, creatives, and changemakers. From youth charities like The Wickers, Ruff Sqwad Arts Foundation, and Pushasone, who run music and mentoring sessions for young people, to the energetic team at Badu, whose café and hub are always busy with people of all ages.

We also host regular community events: Artbash runs after-school art classes, the East Village Parents Club brings families together every Friday, and the Friendship Project lights up Nico’s with free live music nights. Around us, partners like East Wick + Sweetwater and the Mobile Garden team help keep things green, connected, and full of creativity.

Meanwhile, spaces like Block C welcome collectives like Architecture Social Club, who recently used it to prep a stunning live show – and the Good Growth Hub continues to empower local youth with training and opportunities, right here on site.

On-Site Charities

The Outrunners

The Outrunners are a running charity based at Hackney Bridge, who use movement as a tool to build confidence, connection and opportunity. They work with young people and adults across East London, offering mentoring, coaching and access to a supportive running community.

Whether you’re training for your first 5k or just looking for a reason to get outside, The Outrunners create space for people to show up as they are. Chasing a PB or just need some headspace? There’s a place for you here.

The Wickers

Founded in 2018, The Wickers supports young people aged 8 to 21 through a range of free programmes, from mentoring and employability workshops to creative classes and sports activities. Their work is rooted in the belief that every young person deserves access to opportunity, regardless of postcode, background, or circumstance.

At their community hub at Hackney Bridge, The Wickers offers a safe and supportive space where young people can build confidence, develop life skills, and connect with positive role models. They also deliver outreach programmes in schools and local organisations, helping to divert at-risk youth from violence and towards a brighter future.

BADU

BADU is a dynamic community initiative at Hackney Bridge, dedicated to empowering local young people through sports, education, and creative activities. Their programmes work with local schools to provide engaging sports sessions, fostering teamwork, confidence, and wellbeing. At the heart of BADU is their on-site café, serving the Hackney community and beyond. As well as the café, BADU hosts regular events including discussions on men’s health, the popular Chess Club, half-term workshops, and more.

Good Growth Hub

Good Growth Hub is an employment, skills, and training hub that connects young East Londoners with local businesses. Its vision is to see young people in East London thrive and local businesses grow, made possible through the partnerships and opportunities it helps to create. The hub is guided by a set of positive action principles, designed to support those who can benefit most from its programmes.

Mobile Garden

Mobile Garden

The Mobile Garden at Hackney Bridge is a community-led green space that brings people together through growing, learning, and creativity. Managed by Our Parklife, the garden offers a flexible, welcoming environment for workshops, volunteering, and quiet connection with nature – right by the canal.

Throughout the year, the garden hosts a wide range of free workshops and events – from planting and sustainable growing to craft, food, and wellbeing.

Space Usage

Badoo

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

Community Events

Artbash

Artbash runs a twice-weekly programme of after school art workshops at Hackney Bridge. Working with local school children from Mossbourne Riverside Academy, Artbash provides a creative environment for kids to work on engaging and inspiring art projects at an age-appropriate level (ages 5-11).

East Village Parents Club

Every Friday, the East Village Parents Club hosts weekly meet-ups at Hackney Bridge for young parents from the local community. Volunteers from the club set up a small play area for the children and parents are able to socialise and share their parenting knowledge.
